The Rewards

All participating schools will be part of a healthier planet and receive recognition on the Polar Bear Challenge website as well as a participation certificate suitable for framing. The winning schools will receive additional recognition in the Zoo’s online newsletter and recognition by Polar Bears International, a conservation group dedicated to protecting polar bears and their habitat.

Grand Prize

The class that makes the greatest reduction in carbon emissions will receive a gift basket valued at $300 of teaching materials, a framed 11” x 14” photograph of a mother polar bear and cubs with a plaque, a paw of approval medal for their classroom and two free Zoo tickets for each participant in the Challenge.

The Zoo will also select two additional classrooms as runners-up. These classes will receive a gift basket of teaching materials valued at $150, a free Zoo ticket for each participant in the Challenge and a framed 8’ x 10” photograph of a mother polar bear and cubs with a plaque for their classroom.
Zoo staff will judge all projects based on the amount of carbon dioxide each class prevents from being emitted into the atmosphere. You will also be judged on creativity of class created projects and student and staff commitment. Winners will be notified by April 21, 2017.
